May. 18th, 2011 12:53 pmI've been making oatmeal for lunch at work lately when I've run out of time to make a bentou. It's a little weird to do, even in an American context, but it's easy and it's healthy and so I continue.
Additionally, eating oatmeal at work is absolutely hilarious. Few people have heard of oats, almost nobody has heard of oat grains. They don't grow it here, so even after I've explained it nobody has any idea what I'm talking about and they don't even understand why they can't understand it. They insist I've made some kind of mistake!
Today, however, a teacher left me and went to look it up on Wikipedia. From now on I'm going to suggest that every time someone sees me making oatmeal!
